Union commercial roofing contractor · Tacoma, WA · Since 2003
Roof replacement, repair, maintenance and architectural sheet metal for commercial, public, institutional and residential buildings. We stand behind every roof long after the sale.
What we install and service
Our crews are trained on the details that make low-slope roofs fail or last: drainage, penetrations, and work around and under rooftop equipment. No building is too large or too small.
Replacements, overlays and recover systems in PVC, TPO, EPDM, SBS modified bitumen and hot-asphalt built-up roofing, including energy-efficient reflective (cool roof) options.
Leak response, preventive maintenance, tenant-improvement roofing, ponding-water and drainage fixes.
Where we started in 2003: flashing, coping, gutters and downspouts, metal roof and wall panels, MCM/ACM panels.
Roof and traffic coatings, above- and below-grade waterproofing, and expansion joints.
Public work projects: experienced with prevailing wage, L&I certified payroll, and scheduling school projects around the summer break.

Beyond the warranty
RoofAdvisor is V&R's ongoing maintenance program for building owners and property managers. We inspect and clean your roofs twice a year, repair small problems before they become leaks, and give you the reports and budget numbers you need to plan ahead.
Most roofs wear out early because small defects go unnoticed until water reaches the insulation and deck. Regular care catches them early and extends the life of your roof.

About V&R Roofing
Rick Marcelle founded V&R Sheet Metal in Roy, Washington in 2003, after decades in the roofing trade. Customers kept asking for more, and V&R grew into a full commercial roofing contractor. We moved to Tacoma in 2016. Rick and his daughter Stephanie built the company together through referrals and long-term relationships, and that's still how we work.
Plenty of contractors can install the same roofing systems, backed by the same manufacturer warranties. The difference shows up every day: how quickly someone answers the phone, how your building is treated while we work, and whether we come back when something needs attention. As Rick puts it:
The only thing we can do better than our competition is to provide better service.Rick Marcelle, Owner & Founder
Our first priority is taking your roof's problems off your plate so you can run your building. You'll always have someone to answer your questions.
Our reputation is on the line with every roof. We install every system to the manufacturer's specifications and take the time to get the details right.
Safety is part of how we operate every day, on every roof. Our crews are trained for the work they perform, safety is reviewed in regular crew meetings, and every project is planned to protect our people, your building and its occupants.
If an issue comes up on one of our roofs, we come back and fix it. Our relationship doesn't end when the job is done.
Hospitals, schools and offices stay open while we work. We plan around occupants and keep you informed at every step.
Ask us for a reference list. We look forward to adding your name to it.
Our people
V&R is still led by the family that started it. Behind them are our estimators, project managers, superintendents and union roofing crews.
Rick has spent more than 40 years in commercial roofing. He worked his way up from foreman to estimator, project manager and owner. In 2003 he founded V&R Sheet Metal in Roy, Washington, building sheet metal roof and wall panels, and added roofing when customers kept asking for more. Rick has served on the board of the Washington State Roofing Contractors Association.
Stephanie built V&R alongside her father, Rick. Today she runs the company's operations, supports estimating, project management and sales, and manages V&R's relationships with roofing manufacturers.
Estimators and PMs with decades of field and estimating experience, several of them former foremen. They price your project, then see it through to closeout.
